Liquid Beat Records and the Misfit Massive Crew are proud to announce the new 3 song collaborative single “Return Of The Black Fist!” from Libretto and newest Misfit Massive member Zoo? with production from Fel Sweetenberg (Gargantuans) and DisiplinE.

These songs were recorded while Libretto was on house arrest and awaiting sentencing in late 2011, early 2012. During that brief time, Zoo? and Libretto spent as much time as possible building together on the art of writing, performing, and the overall aspects of being a complete emcee. Ultimately, these 3 collaborative tracks came about as a result of those sessions. Although their time spent working together was unfortunately short, these 3 songs show the instant chemistry between the certified vet Libretto and his commanding presence, with the youthful energy and surprising wisdom from next generation emcee Zoo?.

While it will be two more years before we hear these two on a track together due to Libretto’s legal situation, we have much more in store from them individually so stay tuned to Liquid Beat Records and the Misfit Massive Crew.

Song Descriptions:

“Return Of The Black Fist” finds Libretto and Zoo? trading versus about overcoming obstacles, proving doubters wrong, and staying true in the face of adversity over an expertly chopped sample by the Gargantuans crew’s Fel Sweetenberg.

“Sounds of Relaxin” reminds us all to stay aware of who, and what we surround ourselves with, even in our down time so we can stay focused on achieving our goals. Fel Sweetenberg again blesses the beat with a dope, original take on a familiar sample.

“Perfect Day” shows exactly the type of sophisticated street knowledge Libretto is known for and the passion and intellect you will come to expect from newcomer Zoo?. The heavier content on this last track is matched perfectly by the soulful and somber production by DisiplinE” for W.R.E.D. Dawn Productions.

Liquid Beat Records is proud to announce the 12″ vinyl and digital release of The Love Loungers “Last Night Changed It All” EP.

**12″ Record available at 360 Vinyl and fine record stores worldwide: http://bit.ly/SLvnYb
**Digital EP Available on itunes, Amazon & more : http://bit.ly/QK85oN, http://amzn.to/SGn5Au

The “Last Night Changed It All” EP covers, and reimagines the classic B-boy and Hip-Hop classic originally made famous by Esther Williams and sampled by Hip-Hop notables such as 2Pac, DJ Shadow, Public Enemy and many more. The Love Loungers lovingly recreate the song with a heavy emphasis on rhythm and percussion adding an updated soul and funk feel. Anyone who is familiar with the original version will find this to be a welcome twist and a sureshot crate staple.

The rest of the EP finds lead singer Allison Malone working alongside producers Roane Namuh (from OK Hand Signal and Cloudshine fame), Dundiggy, and Matt Nelkin (from Boombap Riddims fame) to beautifully remix and reimagine the song into different genres. Dundiggy and Matt Nelkin join forces for a modern Hip-Hop and R&B take that maintains the original’s melody and song structure. Roane Namuh on the other hand gives the whole composition a complete makeover with a Nu-Disco groove that fits around the lyrics perfectly and will be an undeniable force on any dance floor. And lastly, Dundiggy rounds things out with a slow House & Dub version that adds some thick synths and heavy kicks to anchor the Dubbed out vocals.

The “Last Night Changed It All” EP was truly a labor of love between The Love Loungers and the project’s producers and is aimed strictly at music lovers with a passion for the past and an eye towards the future.

DJ Premier is undoubtedly one of Hip-Hop’s greatest producers of all time. His work with Gang Starr, KRS-ONE, Group Home, Bumpy Knuckles and many more has cemented his legacy as one of the best to ever touch an MPC. In addition to all the classic Hip-Hop albums, songs and remixes he has produced in his career, I have always loved the juxtaposition of vocalists singing over Premier’s boom bap drums and distinctive chops.

As a tribute to what I consider to be this underappreciated aspect of his catalogue, I wanted to create a mix of some of my favorite DJ Premier produced R&B Songs. Included are original tracks, remixes, and a few blends of acapellas over a variety of Premier instrumentals. Hope you enjoy!
